Babydoll sheep will get their day in the limelight during our annual Sheep Shearing Weekend on May 4–5. Expert shearers will help these and other fluffy farm animals out of their winter coats, and visitors can learn about wool spinning and dyeing during special demonstrations.
Can you believe how much our Roosevelt elk has grown since his arrival last July? The not-so-little guy was the first of his kind born at our zoo since 2003, which made his addition to our Great Plains very exciting. His mother goes by the name Olympia, which pays homage to the North American mammal’s other known moniker: Olympic elk.
