A piece of the American southwest comes north as the Queens Zoo welcomes a pair of Texas longhorn cattle, including a male calf and an adult cow. Visitors can see the brown-and-white speckled pair on the Farm.
The Queens Zoo is happy to announce the birth of four pronghorn antelope fawns. The fawns were born to two different mothers one week apart, and include one set of female twins and a second male-female set. Already, the fawns are prancing around their exhibit on their signature long legs, which give the species its incredible speed.
Queens Zoo keepers are hoping that Venus, a Canadian lynx and a long-time resident of the zoo, has met her purr-fect match: Lazarus.
A covey of bobwhite quail have joined the turkeys, turkey vultures, and ducks in the zoo's Aviary. The bobwhite gets its name from the male’s high-pitched whistle, which sounds a bit like “bob-bob-white!”
