The Queens Zoo’s Education Department is dedicated to teaching visitors young and old about wildlife and wild habitats through engaging, interactive programs. Our offerings for families, children, and teens include guided tours, summer programs, and opportunities to meet zoo experts and get an insider’s look at our animals and exhibits. All programs require advance reservation.
Queens Zoo mini-camp programs are designed to connect children with nature and include behind-the-scenes tours led by zoo educators, animal presentations, and arts and crafts workshops.
Spend a day at the Zoo with your children and enjoy private exhibit viewings, themed activities, up-close animal encounters, and special celebrations of holidays. Sign up for a family overnight adventure, and explore the Zoo after dark!
Young adventurers and naturalists will discover animals of the Americas during the zoo’s new Summer Wildlife Weeks. Our multi-day camps will satisfy young minds with exciting explorations, activities and games, and our three-week internship program will introduce teens to careers working with wildlife.
Enrich your class field trip to the zoo with an educational program. Our inquiry- and standards-based curricula take advantage of the Zoo’s naturalistic exhibits and allow students up-close encounters with animals from the Zoo’s educational animal collection in a supervised environment.
The Central Park Zoo’s Wildlife Theater Players perform interactive shows using drama, puppetry, games, and songs. Performances inspire audiences to learn more about their natural world and become part of its protection. The troupe works with schools, community centers, hospitals, camps, and at private events.
Groups of schoolchildren, scouts, families, and adults who are interested in learning more about our animals and exhibits can explore the Queens Zoo with our helpful, trained Wildlife Guides.
Whether you are seeking to enrich your students’ field trip to the Zoo or a lesson in your own classroom, the Queens Zoo’s Education Department offers a wide range of programs to enhance science curricula for kindergarteners through twelfth graders.
